XTEINK has rolled out the X4 Classic (also dubbed the X4 V2), pitching a 68-gram pocket-sized e-reader for $79 directly through its website. Built around a 4.3-inch E Ink display, the pocketable slate aggressively trims every non-essential feature. It ditches both the touchscreen layer and front-lighting entirely, delivering a distraction-free, glare-resistant text panel that relies purely on physical front and side buttons for navigation.

Under the hood, the X4 Classic trades bloated smartphone operating systems for an efficient ESP32-S3 microcontroller and a modest 920 mAh battery. That lightweight hardware setup sips power, easily lasting through marathon reading sessions. Storage sits at 16 GB with microSD expansion, handling EPUB, TXT, MOBI, and PDF formats without friction. Onboard Wi-Fi and Bluetooth provide basic sync capabilities, though wired data and power run through a proprietary magnetic pogo-pin connector rather than standard USB-C. A built-in magnetic backplate rounds out the exterior, making it simple to snap onto existing gear.

Page turns respond to crisp tactile buttons or a motion-based shake feature tailored for one-handed transit reading, which users can toggle off in settings. For the price of a budget pair of wireless earbuds, the X4 Classic bypasses the notification chaos of modern handhelds, offering buyers a hyper-focused, ultra-light reading slate that does exactly one job without unnecessary complexity.
