Running Xbox Cloud on a Jailbroken PS5 with AI Code

Brazilian developer RafaelNGP built a homebrew app using Claude AI to stream Xbox Cloud Gaming on PlayStation 5 hardware. The mod maps four controllers and adds 4K upscaling, but requires voiding your console warranty for a laggy, high-risk streaming setup.

Buying a gaming console for its exclusives and then hacking its system files just to run a bitter rival's service is a level of digital self-flagellation that defies common sense. Yet, that is precisely the path chosen by Brazilian developer RafaelNGP, who built a homebrew application called PSBox Cloud Gaming for jailbroken PlayStation 5 consoles. The author built the modification partly with the help of the Claude artificial intelligence.

The mod, created in part using Claude, allows Xbox Cloud Gaming to run natively on a PS5

In the dry balance sheet, we are looking at a curious technological novelty that streams a competitor's library onto Sony's hardware. The author published the code on GitHub for anyone willing to recreate the trick at home. Is it amusing? Undeniably. Is it useful for an ordinary person who simply wants to come home from work, sit on the couch, and press the power button? Not for a single second.

What Lies Under the Hood and Why It Breaks

To hear RafaelNGP explain it, the technical implementation evokes both a grudging respect and a quiet worry for the enthusiast's sanity. The application maps up to four DualSense controllers for seamless compatibility with the rival ecosystem, while authentication happens right through your smartphone via a TV code [5, 6]. Furthermore, the creator bolted on 4K upscaling driven by the console's own graphics chip using AMD FSR 1 or Anime4K algorithms.

It currently supports a 1080p60 stream

Yet the joy of seeing corporate boundaries blurred lasts precisely until you launch your first live stream and encounter real-world latency.

If you expect a stable gaming experience without endless troubleshooting, abandon that hope immediately. The main barrier for any mainstream user is the absolute requirement of hardware jailbreaking, which permanently strips your console of its factory warranty, official network features, and safe multiplayer access. Turning a several-hundred-dollar living room appliance into a fragile playground for experimental hacks just to play a competitor's game is a thoroughly broken value proposition. In our view, corporate walled gardens are annoying, but breaking your own expensive hardware to scale them is a cure that is infinitely worse than the disease.
