WiCi One Wireless External GPU Packs an RTX 5060 Ti Over Wi-Fi 7

Startup WiCi has introduced the WiCi One, an external graphics box containing a complete PC and an RTX 5060 Ti that streams desktop compute over a Wi-Fi 7 link. While it promises total freedom from cables for thin laptops, physical bandwidth limits and hefty pricing raise serious questions about real-world performance.

Playing demanding games on a thin laptop usually means choosing between a loud, bulky machine or being chained to a heavy external dock by a short cable. Startup WiCi, a member of Nvidia Inception founded by artificial intelligence and networking experts, promises to eliminate that physical tether entirely with the WiCi One. Instead of a typical video-streaming box, WiCi One is an actual external graphics enclosure housing a complete computer that broadcasts desktop GPU compute over a local Wi-Fi 7 wireless link to your host machine.

The Hardware and the Performance Claims

Under the hood of the showcased model sits an RTX 5060 Ti graphics card with 16GB of video memory, paired with an Intel Core 3 100U processor and a 1TB NVMe solid-state drive. WiCi states that this wireless setup can also serve creative tasks, 3D workflows, and artificial intelligence workloads across multiple shared devices.

WiCi claims 80 FPS in Cyberpunk 2077 at 4K Ultra with DLSS 4

As VideoCardz reports, WiCi claims 80 FPS in Cyberpunk 2077 at 4K Ultra with DLSS 4 and 60 FPS at 4K Cinematic in Black Myth: Wukong using this RTX 5060 Ti setup. Furthermore, WiCi is already working on a higher-end configuration equipped with an absolute beast of an RTX 5090 graphics card.

The Bandwidth Bottleneck and the Pricing Reality

The core challenge for any wireless graphics dream remains raw connection throughput. Wi-Fi 7 provides a theoretical maximum bandwidth of up to 46 Gbps, while wired interfaces like Thunderbolt 4 reach 32 Gbps, and both Thunderbolt 5 and OCuLink deliver up to 64 Gbps. However, with WiCi’s specific Wi-Fi 7 4x4 MIMO 320 MHz setup, the theoretical maximum physical layer rate drops to about 11.5 Gbps, which sits significantly below standard wired graphics interconnects. To overcome that pipeline limit, WiCi claims its custom protocol only transmits key GPU requests across the air.

In our view, paying thousands of dollars for an external box just to avoid a short display cable makes little financial sense when standalone gaming rigs exist for the same money. Physics remains undefeated: streaming heavy desktop graphics over the air inevitably runs into brutal latency walls that no marketing slide can completely erase.
