Who Needs a Seven-Thousand-Euro Mini PC with 192 GB of RAM?

Minisforum has introduced the MS-S1 MAX-P495 workstation, cramming an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ chip and 192 GB of unified memory into a palm-sized chassis. Priced near €7,000, it is built exclusively for enterprise engineers looking to host massive AI models locally.

Around seven thousand euros for a small desktop box. At IFA 2026 in Berlin, Minisforum showcased its compact MS-S1 MAX-P495 workstation, teasing a price tag that the company itself unashamedly described as "unexpected." In plain terms, this is a micro-PC priced like a decent used car. Sales are slated to begin as early as September.

For that kind of money, the chassis packs 192 GB of unified LPDDR5X-8533 memory. The integrated Radeon 8065S graphics (40 compute units, clocking up to 3 GHz) can claim the lion's share of this pool—up to 160 GB. Powering the system is a 16-core AMD Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 processor with 32 threads boosting up to 5.2 GHz. AMD estimates total AI platform performance at up to 131 TOPS, with 55 TOPS coming from the dedicated NPU.

Buying this tiny machine for general office tasks, web browsing, or standard gaming would be pure madness. The hardware is tailored exclusively for hosting massive AI models locally without relying on paid cloud infrastructure. According to Minisforum's internal tests, a 284-billion-parameter DeepSeek V4 Flash model running at Q4 quantization hits roughly 15 tokens per second, while a 122-billion-parameter network at Q8 achieves around 27 tokens per second with a 131k token context window.

For everyday consumers, this box offers zero practical utility. Instead of a home PC, you get a niche workstation that runs hot. Physics cannot be cheated: stuffing high-power silicon into an ultra-compact chassis will inevitably lead to loud fan noise and thermal throttling under sustained loads.
