EcoFlow packs 512Wh into a 4.6 kg camping power station

EcoFlow redesigned its River power station lineup to trade heavy plastic for high-density LFP batteries. The new 5.63-liter model weighs 4.6 kg while maintaining enough continuous output to run a fridge or a satellite terminal off-grid.

Ditching the Heavy Camp Luggage

If you have ever dragged a massive, back-straining power station to a campsite just to keep your essentials alive for a weekend, you know the misery of hauling dead weight. EcoFlow aims to break that routine with its fourth-generation River lineup, trading bulky plastic shells for high-density LFP battery chemistry that delivers longer cycle life without the footprint.

The entry-level EcoFlow River 260 Gen4 packs a 256Wh capacity into a chassis that slips easily into a duffle bag. For longer off-grid stays, the River 520 Gen4 steps up to 512Wh while measuring 13.9 by 17.7 by 22.9 cm—a total volume of just 5.63 liters at 4.6 kg, yielding an impressive volumetric density of 90.9 Wh/L.

Real Ports and Smart Power Management

Shrinking the enclosure is pointless if the hardware chokes under practical field demands. The River 260 Gen4 provides four USB ports alongside a single AC socket capable of 300W continuous output, sufficient to run a Starlink Mini terminal, mobile fridge, and several smartphones simultaneously without tripping thermal limits.

For heavier loads, the River 500 Gen4 delivers 500W across dual AC outlets alongside the four USB ports. As reported by Thomas Ricker at The Verge, the stepped-up River 520 Gen4 can even sustain a standard home refrigerator for roughly four hours during an unexpected outage.

Paying a premium for this degree of miniaturization makes immediate sense if your priority is packing light without relying on underpowered pocket power banks or dragging obsolete, ten-kilo generators into the woods.
