Anker Laptop Charger Pro Review: Paying $60 to Lose Three Ports

Anker's $60 Laptop Charger Pro packs 100 watts, a display, and battery-care modes into a tiny brick, but drops its design down to a single USB-C port. You trade everyday multi-device charging convenience for a tiny screen and dubious battery lifespan gains.

The search for the ideal home power outlet often turns into a ruthless competition: what needs plugging in right now—your dead laptop or your drained phone? While tech manufacturers stubbornly strip adapters out of the box, third-party brands battle to conquer the last free slot in your power strip. Anker decided to play this game and dropped the new Laptop Charger Pro on the market, packing 100 watts of power, a display, and battery-health features for $60. For this price, you get a compact brick designed to solve the eternal headache of portable tech owners—battery degradation from staying plugged in all day.

One port against familiar versatility

- The new charger features a single USB-C port, but it automatically recognizes specific laptop and iPhone models to tailor its output.

- Compared to Anker's previous three-port charger, the device is smaller and lighter: measuring 62 × 34 × 55 mm and tipping the scales at 193 g.

- The prongs fold flat, a USB-C cable comes in the box, and you can pick it up in dark gray or silver.

This single-port choice raises entirely justified questions about real-world use cases. If one powerful brick used to handle your phone, tablet, and work laptop all at once, you now get a mono-charger for the same cash. You have to choose what matters more: travel-friendly size or the ability to juice up all your gear from a single outlet without playing power-strip gymnastics.

Saving the battery or chasing pure speed

- The headline feature of the device is Care Mode, designed for gentle battery charging: MacBook owners can lock in a charge limit between 80% and 100%, which Anker claims extends battery life by up to 40%.

- If speed matters more than lifespan, Auto Mode handles the heavy lifting automatically.

Built-in display tracks the grunt work in real time. The screen shows current wattage, charging progress, and device temperature, alongside some playful interactive animations. Under the hood, it supports multiple power profiles: 5V/3A, 9V/3A, 15V/3A, and 20V/5A.

Anker's Laptop Charger Pro is already shipping in the US via Amazon and the official webstore for $60—which is $10 cheaper than the older three-port model, though the company hasn't uttered a word about European release dates. In my view, dropping $60 on a gadget for vague promises of battery preservation while losing three ports is a raw deal, and saving ten bucks is a miserable consolation prize for crippled functionality.

How the story developed

In early September, the company's power lineup saw a 2010 Wh power station weighing 16.2 kg, followed on 9 September by the ultra-compact Soundcore Sleep Earbuds 4 Pro weighing just three grams each. The brand has now added the 100W Laptop Charger Pro adapter with a built-in display for $60. This move rounds out the brand's ecosystem of everyday accessories, bridging the gap between heavy power stations and pocket-sized charging blocks with digital control.
